Communication Program Highlights

Effective communication is one of the main building blocks for all successful organizations. These corporate training sessions are designed to help you learn to communicate with clarity, to nurture employee trust and collaboration, and ultimately develop stronger team relationships.

Develop an enhanced understanding of yours and others’ communication style using DiSC. Learn to ask questions, give feedback and influence others, while adapting to their style. Explore non-verbal communications, learn to say “no” and improve your listening skills.

What is your personal listening style? Do you understand motivation, focus and mode? Are you into appreciative, empathic, comprehensive, discerning, or evaluative listening? Once you establish your mode, it is easy to apply this material to improve communication, team-building and productivity.

There are consequences to not having difficult conversations, so in this program learn to create a safe environment for them. You can build trust, use positive language over negative, overcome defensiveness and encourage the listener to speak. Understand that you need a) preparation, b) the conversation and c) follow-up to have an effective “difficult” conversation.

Conflict is something few of us like to deal with, and yet unaddressed conflict can cost your organization significant time and money. Learn different ways to handle conflict, understand why conflict in the workplace happens and how you can address it quickly, respectfully and effectively. Learn some key ways to negotiate and achieve conflict resolution.

Speaking well is a skill that is increasingly valued by organizations. More than just a fancy PowerPoint, creating and delivering effective presentations can make the difference between polite applause and a thunderous ovation, losing the deal and closing the deal. This course will help develop your presentation skills by building confidence when speaking in person and online. This session offers tools to learn how to create material that is relevant, interesting and of lasting value. Together we will leverage your strengths to develop a strong and effective speaking style and podium presence while focused on how to engage your audience.

Making sense of your message for your reader is essential in today’s fast-paced business environment. Saying what you mean in as few words as possible, while maintaining tone and style is a challenge. Learn to write clearly-focused documents that are well organized and say what they mean in an appropriate tone.

Become reader-focused and persuasive as you pass vital information on to help others make informed decisions. Learn to organize your thoughts, write ‘problem or opportunity statements’ and craft sentences with only one interpretation. Executive summaries are also part of this program.

Virtually everyone today uses email to communicate at work and at home. In business email writing, the language is concrete, the point of view is clear and the points must be well expressed. Good writing is hard work. However with practice you can feel more confident. This workshop includes when and when not to send an email, how to write and proof read your work so it is clear, concise, complete, correct and courteous. Learn how to increase your response rate and develop superb subject lines.

We ensure the right training solutions for your needs

In pre-training assessments, WATMEC establishes measurable learning outcomes, to ensure the ‘right fit’. For example, making presentations in a classroom with feedback from the facilitator and group is ideal for improving presentation skills. But if an organization is facing time or geographic issues, or your skill-building concerns involve only one individual, we may recommend utilizing webinars, e-learning or even one-on-one coaching.
